Since 2020, we have been dedicated to transforming the lives of students from the most challenging and underserved communities in St. Catherine. Our non-profit, tuition-free school removes the barriers to education and equips our students with the resources they need to succeed, from classrooms to life.
The Christel House model has been proven to deliver profound, lasting change for over 25 years in countries around the world. Our in-depth, whole-child approach provides not only an exceptional, character-based and career-focused education from Kindergarten through Grade 13, but also transportation, healthcare, breakfast and lunch, uniforms, books and supplies, college and career counselling, and more. Christel House Jamaica is uniquely positioned as the only school in the country that provides everything a child needs to thrive.
Our innovative tablet band—a unique six-member group where each instrument is played on a tablet—has won two national gold medals since we began, leading to the creation of an entirely new competition category.
In the 2023/24 academic year, we debuted our first football team in two competitions and were honoured to receive the award for Most Disciplined Team in the Portmore Primary Football Competition.
Our model works. Our students are making significant progress, proving our approach is effective and transformative.
A well-rounded education is essential for developing individuals who can excel in all aspects of life. Our co-curricular and extra-curricular programs, comparable to those offered by Jamaica’s top private schools, are essential in fostering this growth. During the school day, students engage in specialist subjects like music, art, physical education and languages; after school, they participate in diverse clubs and sports teams. Our students have achieved notable success in athletics, earning individual medals and high placements in regional championships.
At Christel House Jamaica, we employ a Multi-Tier System of Support (MTSS), a proactive and inclusive framework to meet the academic, social-emotional, and behavioural needs of every student. By using data-driven decisions, monitoring progress, and implementing supports through a three-tiered system, we prioritise students’ individual needs and provide our teachers with the tools, resources, and professional development necessary to help students grow and develop in all aspects of their lives.
We currently serve more than 400 students from Kindergarten through Grade 6 within an 8-mile radius of our school in Twickenham Park, Spanish Town, St. Catherine. Our two-story High School is under construction in anticipation of our first Grade 7 class in August 2025. We plan to grow organically, enrolling 60 Kindergarten students each year until we reach our full capacity of 840 students through Grade 13 by 2031.
