Teachers get ready for the kids in Jamaica

Teachers and staff of Christel House Jamaica (CHJ) are meeting at the new school and preparing to welcome their K – 2 students. School openings across Jamaica have been delayed at least one month due to COVID 19 concerns. When schools open, Christel House teachers will be ready.Through online sessions, teachers learned what sets Christel House apart from other schools – a holistic model providing nutrition and health care support for children with a strong academic curriculum and character development programming. “Christel House will have a tremendous impact on these children,” says Jacquline Samuels, Kindergarten teacher. Teachers and staff from Christel House South Africa joined the Jamaica training sessions, sharing insights and offering support to the new team. “Their perspectives were very enlightening,” says Vivien Morris Brown, Speech and Drama teacher. Alice Hogarth, Grade 2 teacher summed up the training with a sense of gratitude. “I am honored to be part of this dynamic team!”

Christel House Jamaica is scheduled to open October 5th with 180 students in kindergarten through Grade 2. Each year thereafter an additional 60 kindergarten students will be admitted. The high school phase will begin construction in 2024 and the school will grow organically until it reaches capacity at Grade 13.
